This is one of my favourite photos from her as I like how the dress is blue which matched the background of the photo.
The girl being on the right side of the photo makes a difference then if she was in the middle as you can see the whole sky behind her and it looks like she's in the middle of walking., this isn't the only photo Leibovitz has done that. The sky is less in focus the woman which helps your eyes look more at her then the background. This photo give you more of a majestic feel, and its good that there isn't a black and white film covering the colours |
The reason I like this photo is because its a bit surreal and different to what you would usually see in a forest with an old seat.
The girl in the photo is wearing a white silk dress with ruffles. Leibovitz has kept the whole photo in focus instead of having one subject to focus on completely. The green leaves help the white dress pop out and catch your attention. The girls eyes are focused on the camera and leaving you to wonder what a girl like her is doing there. |
This photo is of a loving couple. The man is looking right at the camera unlike the girl who has her eyes closed while having her arms wrapped around him.
This makes the focus more on him then her as you want to look at the man's eyes. This is because his eyes are looking at the camera. Avedon has made both the people in the photo in focus, as this shows us what to focus on. The filter adds effect and really brings out the details on the mans face; glasses, lines, lips and hair. They both look really happy even though you can only really see the man's expression in his eyes. |
In this picture Marilyn Monroe is staring into space and not into the camera. You can see her chest as well as her face.
I like this picture because it makes you wonder what she's thinking about. The black and white of the photo gives out a different feel then with out it, the different colour background works well with the colour off skin making you notice and focus on her. There isn't a lot of background in this photo and her arms are a little out of focus on the sides, this makes you focus more on her chest and face. |
The Woman in this photo isn't the prettiest woman you could use to take a photo of, maybe that's why she's holding the camera as no one wants to take photos of an 'ugly' woman so she takes them of 'beautiful' people.
She isn't looking at us, its more like the camera she's holding is looking at us. you can sort of see her reflection in the window adding effect and changing how the photo looks. The back ground is out of focus making the women the main point and the black and white filter adds mystery. |
In this photograph you see a baby crying. A black and white filter has been used which isn't typically what you would expect to use with a baby.
Also, in baby photographs you would generally see babies as happy and beautiful not ugly and crying. Arbus has made it so you can only see the baby's face and a bit of her top. The background is almost completely black which makes you notice the whiteness of her skin and jumper - a stark contrast. If you look at the right side of the photograph, you will see that it is even darker than left side as the darkness of the shadow covers half of her eyebrow and face. |
Glamour portrait; |
A candid portrait is taken without a subject expecting or acknowledging the photographer. This style used in photo journalism, travel photography, street photography and event photography. As opposed to an environmental portrait this image is captured at the moment rather than set up.

The term Glamor Portrait refers to portraits where emphasis is given to highlight the sexy romantic appeal of the subject. Glamour photography is generally a composed image of a subject in a still position. The subjects of "glamour" photography for professional use are often professional models but amateur subjects are also sometimes used, and sometimes the photographs are intended for private and personal use only.

In my opinion this is the worst one as I don't like the scarf we used or the way I'm close to her face. You can barley see her eyes which was the meant to be the main focus but I do like the bit you can see, they look pretty and the blue stands out against the light backgrounds and really makes it pop.
